PHP Programmer (Leeds Office)
We're looking for a PHP master who is a guru at web development. Experience of relational database development, software development and object oriented programming is a must. You'll be writing state-of-the-art code running on Linux, Apache and PostgreSQL.
You'll be working on a wide variety of ecommerce and content management projects for a wide range of clients including Gatecrasher and Gulf Oil. You'll also be supporting a separate 7 man design team along with your four colleagues in our Development team.
The Role
You will be required on a daily basis to create scripts and programs, resolve issues, design interfaces and create great new software. You'll be interacting with clients and making their visions a reality.
You'll need to know PHP inside and out. You should also have good web server knowledge as well as a good understanding of communication technologies such as TCP/IP, Proxies, FTP, etc. Unix, Linux and shell skills are also a must.
You'll be based in an open office - not locked away out of sight. We want someone who is interactive, enthusiastic and has a positive attitude; dedication and willingness to work hard, often under high pressure and working to strict commercial deadlines.
You should have a high standard of English & mathematics and some knowledge of computer hardware, networking would also be advantageous.
Your Experience
- You'll definitely need to know PHP to a very high level
- SQL and PHPTAL experience is also a requirement
- You'll be using Apache, PostgreSQL and Linux every day
- You must have a strong grasp on object oriented programming
- Familiarity with source control SVN and Eclipse
- Good code reuse, re-factoring, testing and documentation values
- Familiarity with information architecture and usability
- Programming Certifications a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Team player
- Outstanding candidates would also have experience of XML, RSS, AJAX.
- Other languages such as CGI / PERL, Zope, Python, etc.
Location
You'll be based at our offices in Leeds for the most part, but may be required to attend client meetings away from the office from time to time.
